“You know what? Fuck it, German film school folks, I survived Glasgow AND Bulgaria, bring it on bitches.”

(Part 2/2)

The most memorable part of my time in Bulgaria was all the travelling I got to do. If you knew me before, I am not really the type to get up early on a winter day and climb up stuff but I climbed a few hills, alright:

And oh that one

And don’t forget this one

I honestly think I saw some of the most amazing places in Europe and had these “wow” moments rather often. I am so incredibly thankful for those because it wasn’t just about seeing a tourist destination. It was about reading about Bulgaria and researching hidden gems and working my way through difficult Bulgarian sentences and trying to find bus and train schedules and the people I met along the way and the kindness of Bulgarians and foreigners AND the bitchiness of Bulgarians and foreigners. And the memories.

Speaking of difficult Bulgarian sentences, has anyone tried to learn Bulgarian besides me? It is freaking random but I loved it!! I loved that it drove me insane in the first few months that I was bad at it but I loved how good I got towards the end. No, I still could not talk about politics but I had no fear to talk to locals in small villages and ask for help and be sure that everything would be just fine. If you are in an environment where you do not understand ANYONE around you, it is incredibly daunting but once you take the pressure off from yourself and give it a shot, it is like a door opens to a new world and every little successful conversation is a freaking win.

Overall, I am surprised at how well I handled Bulgaria and yes, it did not have anything to do with television or writing or my career BUT it was worth it!

In May, I came to Germany for a week to do the entrance exam at a film school here and it was exciting and all BUT the most memorable thing was the overwhelming support, I got so many emails and messages from old friends and co-workers wishing me well and it was amazing to see that people supported me on my journey. I am seriously thankful. Oh and I got in! 😀

In July, 2013 I moved to Germany in order to study a 2year course in TV Journalism at a really good film school. In order to get some cash together, I have been working full time selling incredibly pricey handbags and suitcases since my second day in the country. And you know what, it is hard work!! Carrying so many boxes up and down some stairs, standing for 9 hours straight, dealing with awesome, as well as the not so awesome customers. I have a whole new level of respect for people working in customer service. It has been tough but I think I adapted pretty quickly to it and am not dreading the 1-2days a week I will be doing during term time.

But as I am writing this I am a little nervous about tomorrow. Will I get along with the people and learn fast enough in a different environment?? Is my creativity and knowledge/skills enough for the business I want to be in? Will I be able to contribute in more areas than just sarcasm and bad shoe choices?

You know what? Fuck it, German film school folks, I survived Glasgow AND Bulgaria, bring it on bitches.
